Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire, a quiet area situated in the West Island of Montreal is something you could call a "sleepy" place. The West Island, to those not familiar with it, is a large area that extends from Lachine all the way west. Amanda Brugel was born there, but her time there was short. Brugel grew-up in Courtice near Oshawa the city of Ontario. Her early ambition was to be a dancer but a growth spurt meant that she literally outgrew her dance partners. In a recent interview with the Toronto Star, she confessed that "In heels I am 6 feet 1 inches." Once I was bigger than any male partner and stopped dancing, I quit. Bruce was among the former dancers that turned into acting. Her high school teacher school encouraged her in the right direction. The teacher who suggested she pursue a role for the annual school production. The school's production was a success and she was selected to play the main role of Anne of Green Gables after she had a go at. After receiving the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship, she attended York University and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in 2000. Since then, Brugel has been involved in more than 60 shows, large and small. One of the most memorable was when she landed the role of Rita in The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the sole Canadian cast member in the season 1 of the show and was only seen occasionally.
